Sprague Team update

Every year of every worthy cause is as important as the last/next, yet we seem to attach greater significance to milestone anniversaries. So, let’s run with it, literally, as we make the mad dash to the icy Atlantic Ocean on Sunday, February 11^th. Yes, one month from today. Buck’s Ducks, the team representing Sprague, will participate in the annual Penguin Plunge to benefit Special Olympics of New Hampshire (SONH).

What started out as a friend supporting another friend in contributing to a cause near and dear to his heart 23 years ago has blossomed into a long-running Sprague tradition. Since then, 51 individuals have proudly represented us in the effort to benefit SONH. Everyone’s contribution is greatly appreciated. We’ve had a CEO, a CFO, many co-workers, spouses, parents, children, friends, business associates, someone totally unrelated who wanted to be a member of a fun team, and two friends of a fallen Sprague colleague who wanted to honor their friend (who himself had plunged the two years prior) all take the Plunge.

25 of 51 plungers have done it more than once. As close to one half without cutting someone in half as possible. 10 of those individuals have done 5 or more, with 3 dedicating 2 decades to the effort. All raising tens of thousands of dollars to support SONH. You can be a member of the team and there are plenty of us to share our experience to let you know it is an exhilarating event. And no team is complete without its cheerleaders. Coworkers, family, & friends who brave the elements to stand on the sidelines to cheer us on and take photographs. Yes, they have coats, but we have ADRENALINE.

The Plunge is a full-body experience that is felt greatest on the heart when all said and done. What we do as plungers takes mere moments compared to the countless joy your contributions make to the hopes of hundreds of Special Olympians. We may never convince you to plunge into the deep blue ocean, but certainly hope to persuade you to dig deep for the green and donate to this Sprague tradition.
