Don Healy (a.k.a. Tarzan) is Taking the Plunge in Granite Lake!
On Saturday, March 7th, I’ll be joining three equally crazy teammates to plunge into the ice-cold waters of Granite Lake (the ice is still so thick, we’ll be using pick axes and chain saws to cut an opening big enough for the four of us). The purpose of this insanity is to raise funds for the Special Olympics of New Hampshire.
This plunge is part of the statewide “Winni-Dip” campaign, an annual event taking place at Lake Winnipesaukee and other lakes throughout New Hampshire. The theme of this year’s campaign is “Jungle Safari”. In keeping with this theme, and after much cajoling by my fellow teammates, I foolishly agreed to take the plunge as Tarzan (and one of my teammates is plunging as Jane). I was provided the image above as guidance on what I should look like for the big dip. To meet this challenge, I have been pumping iron at the gym daily, getting weekly steroid injections from my physician, and downing creatine and other muscle building supplements. And, at great expense, I have also acquired appropriate jungle attire.
For all those who make a donation, I’ll be sending a photo of the final look as well as a photo to prove I actually made the plunge. These photos will surely be worth more than any donation you make, indeed, they may be priceless! In short, please donate whatever you can for this worthwhile cause.
