26 Is Not Enough!!!!

On 13 February 2000, I could not have imagined that I would be repeating the inaugural Plunge 25 more times and preparing for another at the age Paul McCartney set in my mind as being Old (That would be 64 for the under 30 crowd).  Over the past 26 years, there have been many milestones that would have been good years on which to walk away and become a Pampered Penguin.  But the time flew by and you all just keep donating and donating and the athletes keep training, competing and smiling, so stopping has not been something I really  think about except 20 seconds before I hit that cold water every year; but that passes with the exhilaration of having completed another year. 

Every year I find it easy to get back out on the beach and into the ocean.  My inspiration comes from my memories of the athletes that I have coached or watched, and each of you that have donated to this cause, over the past 26 years.  You make it easy to want to keep going.

Your donations support the purest form of sports competition in the world! Special Olympians are committed to winning; but devoted to fair play which allows them to live by their motto “Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt”.   

Your donations buy smiles! I know I say this a lot, all Special Olympic or Unified Sports Competition are a source of smiles.  If you walk around at a competition, you will see smiles on the faces of the athletes, the coaches, the referees, the families, the fans and you will realize you have been smiling the whole time you were there.
